Lantern Show Kicks off at Hunan Martyrs Park

The preparation work of lantern show in the Hunan Martyrs Park was finished on the evening of Jan. 31. Lit on a trail basis, the shining lanterns intensify the festival atmosphere of the park. From Feb. 1 to 17 (Lantern Festival), the lanterns will be lit every night.

The lantern named "White elephant pilgrimages" is made up of three elephants and two white towers which are formed by thousands of ceramic cups, bowls and spoons. Beside it, three colorful peacocks made up of thousands of bottles full of iridescent liquid are also attractive.

The 15-meter-high palace lantern at the square is the most conspicuous one. On the opposite side, a pair of 220-meter-long colorful phoenixes composed of dozens of multicoloured lights stand facing south to welcome visitors.
