Hunan's First English-medium International School Set up in Changsha

Changsha WES Academy, the first English-medium International School of Hunan, was established in Xingsha Town of Changsha on the afternoon of January 14, 2011. Zhou Qiang, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, attended the plate-conferring ceremony.
In recent years, the export-oriented economy has maintained rapid development in the Changsha National Economic & Technical Development Zone. Till now, 25 subsidiaries of world s top 500 enterprises have been set up there, absorbing more and more foreigners. Therefore, it is necessary to build a high-level international school for children of foreign friends. In May 2010, the foundation laying ceremony for the school was held.
The school covers an area of 40 mu (about 2.67 hectares) with a total investment of 80 million yuan. There are office buildings, teaching buildings, theatres, canteens, libraries, indoor stadiums, etc. As a standard intelligent school, the whole school is covered with wireless network.
The school can accommodate 500 to 800 students and offer courses from elementary school to high school. It is authorized to provide programs of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) by many famous universities like Harvard University, Cambridge University, and Oxford University. It intends to recruit foreigners in Changsha, even across the whole province and central south China.
