Changsha Fireworks Gala Celebrates Chinese New Year

A spectacular fireworks gala was held in Changsha on the night of January 2 to welcome the Chinese Lunar Year of the Rabbit. Themed with "Happy Changsha and Joyful New Year", the fireworks display was held simultaneously in 6 sites of Changsha City. Secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee Chen Run'er enjoyed the splendid show together with Changsha citizens.

The China (Liuyang) Musical Fireworks Competition & the 2011 Changsha Fireworks Gala consists of five parts, namely, "Prelude to Spring", "Spring Blessed in Fireworks", "Spring Daybreak in Ancient City", "Spring Greets Jade Rabbit" and "Spring in Changsha".

Various newly-developed fireworks worth some 1 million yuan made their debuts in succession, including those named "Dragon Rises over the Divine Land", "Hundred Flowers in Bloom", "Peacock Spreads Its Tail", "Ring with Five Stars", "Ring of the Sun" and "Five Rings".

Fireworks show was staged in the district-governance compounds of Changsha Furong District, Tianxin District, and Kaifu District, Citizens' Square of Yuhua District and Lugu Park at the same time. The night sky comes alive with thunderous cracks and showers of colorful sparks.
