Five Works of SCAU Were Chosen into Art Exhibition of Foreign Students in Guangdong

Recently, upon the approaching of the 16th Asian Games, College of International Education of SCAU called on foreign students to take part in the Art Exhibition of foreign students from colleges in GuangdongProvince for Celebrating the 60^th Anniversary of Studying in China. Five works were chosen into the exhibition.

The exhibition was organized by the Division of International Exchange and Cooperation of Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Guangdong Association for International Education and Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. It was an important part of the series of activities in celebration of the 60^th Anniversary of new China s international students education. 10 provincial universities joined the exhibition with more than 100 pieces of fine arts on display, including calligraphies, paintings, photographs and designs. These works showed the achievement made by Guangdong in International education exchanges and the great talent of foreign students. Five works of SCAU put on display in the exhibition were all photographs taken by foreign students from America, France and Columbia. All the works bear artistic conception with a wide range of themes which were spoken highly of by the visitors.

Educational exchange is an important part of the cultural exchanges between different countries. The work of receiving foreign students in China was the platform to promote equal cooperation and mutual benefit between China and other countries. New China has been accepting foreign students for 60 years since 1950, adding up to a total of more than 1.69 million. The work of admitting foreign students in China plays an irreplaceable and active role in promoting Sino-foreign cultural exchanges, building a bridge of friendship between the people and improving a harmonious world. In GuangdongProvince, the vanguard of China s reform and opening-up and the economic-strong province, the international education for foreign students gets great attention from the government and colleges, and produces remarkable achievements. At present, the number of the institutions which admit foreign students has risen to 23. In 2009 GuangdongProvince ranked the fourth in the whole country with 10,024 foreign students.

As one of the earliest universities to admit international students, SCAU has cultivated students from more than 29 countries including Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, Equatorial Guinea, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Indonesia, Vietnam and so on. Presently, 45 students are receiving government scholarship, 13 students are self-sponsoring and almost 30 are learning Chinese in SCAU.
