Beijing International Forum on Music Education 2006

Beijing International Forum on Music Education 2006 was open on May 15 and our university was one of the sponsored units.
Yang Qing, Dean of College of Music of CNU and Betty from NAMM hosted the opening ceremony on the night of May 15 in SAS Radisson Hotel. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Capital Normal University President Xu Xiangyuan congratulated the opening of the forum. He said that peace, development and cooperation had been the trend of the world and Aesthetic education and art education had been more and more important to human s civilization and improvement. He also said that in this situation, it would be remarkable that so many music education experts from all over the world came here in Beijing to communicate and share opinions on issues on music education.
Many experts attended the forum held from May 15 to 18. Dr. Gary McPherson is currently President of the International Society for Music Education (2004-2006) and a former National President of the Australian Society for Music Education; Professor Graham Welch holds the Institute of Education , University of London Established Chair of Music Education and is Head of the Institute's School of Arts and Humanities. Prof. Wang Yaohua of Fujian Normal University, Prof. Xie Jiaxing of China College of Music, Prof. Wang Anguo of College of Music of CNU also made special speeches on research and policy development of music education.
The closure of the forum was held in the Great Hall of the People on the night of May 18. The counsellor of USA Embassy, vice-president of the Central Committee of Minjin Party, Wang Liping, famous musician Wu Yanze and vice-president of CNU, Liu Xincheng attended the closure to congratulate the consummation of the forum.
