The 2009 Cross-straight Symposium on Robots and Robot Soccer Tournament was held in SCUT from Nov.6 to Nov.8. Vice president PENG Xinyi attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
This campaign, in the form of academic conference and robot soccer, aims to strengthen the academic exchanges and to improve the corporation in robotics across the Taiwan Strait. The symposium has invited many experts and researchers from both sides of the strait. Among them there were 60 students and teachers from 8 universities in Taiwan China, such as National Cheng Kung University, Tamkang University, etc., and 40 from mainland universities, including Tsinghua University, South China University of Technology, etc. The robot soccer tournament consisted of three events, namely, Humanoid League, Middle-size League and Domestic League.
After two days' competing, SCUT won the championship of Humanoid League and Middle-size League robot soccer. Shanghai University got the first place of Domestic League.
Initiated in 2007 in Chongqing University, the Cross-straight Symposium on Robots and Robot Soccer Tournament is hosted once a year by universities in mainland and Taiwan in turn. The next run will be in Taiwan.
