In the summer vacation of 2009, more than 300 SCUT students went down to 17 different regions in Guangdong province to conduct the "double shift", "double upgrade" development strategy research. They have recovered 446 questionnaires, completed more than 150 research reports and finished the Collected Works of Guangdong "double shift", "double upgrade" development strategy research. After reading the collected works, Provincial secretary WANG Yang wrote to SCUT, highly appreciating the research activities. He said that "he has seen the hope of contemporary college students in Guangdong". On the afternoon of March 1st, the SCUT symposium on studying and implementing Wang's written instructions was held in Shaw Science Building.
After the 2008 financial crisis, Guangdong development is faced with serious crisis and challenge. In May 2008, Guangdong put forward the "industrial transfer" and "labor transfer" development strategies. More than a year has passed. How is the "double transfer" strategy implemented in Guangdong? In the summer vacation of 2009, SCUT students carried out the social practical research on the implementation situation and the results of Guangdong "double transfer" strategy.
From the design of the questionnaire to the writing of the reports, the practical activity lasted more than six months. The research team members have gone from the superficial understanding of the two items: "double transfer", "double upgrade" to the in-depth analysis and writing process of Guangdong development strategy.
Secretary Wang wrote in the letter: "I am very gratified to see you students' strong sense of responsibility and mission on the development of Guangdong. I see the hope of contemporary college students in you. You summarized the implementation situation of the 'double transfer', 'double upgrade' strategy, analyzed the existing problems and deficiencies and provided countermeasures and suggestions, which reflects a relatively high research level.
Many of the comments and suggestions are pertinent, and have some referential value for decision making It is very commendable for you students to use what you have learned to serve the economy and society of Guangdong."
