On the morning of Feb. 8, SCUT, Government of Baiyun District, China Merchants Group signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement of Collaboratively Constructing Guangzhou Private Science and Technology Park into the Green Low-carbon City. The three parties will cooperate in constructing the low-carbon model city which is distinctive of Lingnan characteristic culture, and is favorable for green low-carbon industry and living, merchandising and trade related services.

It is reported that the first phase of land expanding plan of Guangzhou Private Science and Technology Park is 1,348 mu (8,088 acres). The low-carbon model district will become the ecological modern service park which assembles hundreds of high-tech R & D, service industries and manufacturing enterprises, and is fit for habitation, living and working.

The low-carbon model district will realize the interaction of production and residence, and reduce 30% of the traffic requirement, by making full use of SCUT's internationally leading scientific and technological achievements in the fields of Green Park Planning, Architectural Design, City-level Energy Monitoring, Utilization of Renewable Energy, Disposal of Environmental Pollutants, etc.

It will serve as the model of city construction in the future.
