The design program of the National Supercomputing Center in Changsha, made by Hunan University, has been officially released to the public to solicit opinions and suggestions since October 30, 2010.

According to the design program, the site of the center, with a planned area covering 56.2 mu (about 3.75 hectares), has been selected in Hunan University. The investment in this center is expected to exceed 700 million yuan.

The center is made up of Tiansuan Platform, R & D Center, and Tianhe Square. Connected by underground passage, Tiansuan Platform and R & D Center resemble 0 and 1 respectively, two binary numbers of the computer system.

The 23-meter-high main building of Tiansuan Platform consists of three stories including mainframe computer rooms. The surrounding of each storey and the interlayer between mainframe computer rooms serve as a corridor for learning and sightseeing.

Located at the north of Tiansuan Platform, the building of R & D Center is 21.4 meters high. Upon completion, it will become an important center for computer experts from Hunan and even the whole country to conduct research and development.

To be paved in the shape of integrated circuit board, Tianhe Square will be built into a science popularization base for teenagers and a network innovation platform for university students of the country.
