World Expo Shanghai 2010 was successfully held from May 1 to October 31, 2010 in Shanghai, China. It was the first time for the World Expo to be held in China, and it was also the first World Exposition held in a developing country, which offered opportunities for people around the world to learn more about China.
The China Pavilion, the top attraction at the Shanghai Expo reopens to the public after the closure of Shanghai Expo. The extension will last for 6 months from December 1, 2010 till May 31, 2011. This large, inverted-pyramid building displays many China’s national treasures borrowed through various channels, such as bronze chariots that are thousands of years old, and a giant 128-meter long animated projection of the famous Chinese painting “Along the River during the Qingming Festival”. During its extension, the China Pavilion will maintain the original displays as shown during the Expo, and more national treasures are expected to be displayed.

Being the first World Exposition on the theme of “City”, Exposition 2010 attracted governments and people from around the world, focusing on the theme of "Better City, Better Life." 73.08 million people visited the expo, making it the largest number of visitors in the Expo history. More than 200,000 performaces were staged during the Expo, which is also a history record.
