The Total Retail Sale of Consumer Goods Rose 13.6 Percent in April

In April, the total retail sale of consumer goods was 577.5 billion Yuan, rose by 13.6 percent over the same month of the previous year.

In terms of different areas, urban consumables retail value was 389.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase rate of 14.1 percent; that of county and below county level was 187.7 billion Yuan, increased by 12.5 percent.

In terms of different industries, the retail sale of wholesale and retail trade sector was 491.1 billion Yuan, rose by 13.6 percent over the same period of the previous year; hotel and catering services retail value 75.7 billion Yuan, increased by 15.4 percent; other industries retail value was 10.7 billion Yuan, up by 0.4 percent.

In terms of different commodity categories, the retail sale of wholesale and retail trade sector above designated size: food, clothing and commodity retail value was up by 14.9, 17.4 and 23.5 percent respectively. Of which, the price of grain was up by 20.7 percent; the price of meal, poultry, fresh eggs and their products increased by 11.6 percent; the price of clothes shoes, hats and textiles was up by 17.4 percent; cultural and office appliances was up by 18.1 percent; sports and recreation articles was up by 13.4 percent; articles for daily use was up by 14.1 percent; household appliances and music and video equipment was up by 17.6 percent; furniture was up by 15.7 percent; building and building decoration materials was up by 27.5 percent; cosmetics was up by 18.8 percent; gold, silver and jewelry was up by 29.5 percent; communication facility was up by 30.5 percent; motor vehicles was up by 26.3 percent; the price of petrol and relevant products rose by 37.0 percent.

The accumulated total retail sale of consumer goods from January to April reached 2421.5 billion yuan, increased by 13 percent year-on-year.
