On the morning of December 30, 2009, Shahe Aqueduct Project on the Main-line of Middle Line of South-north Water Transfer Project, of which the CGGC No. 1 Company involved in the construction, officially started.
As a component part of the phase I of Middle Line of South-north Water Transfer Project, this project is rare to see in the world in terms of its scale and difficulty. The first problem is the large scale of aqueduct, as indicators, such as comprehensive flow, span, weight and total length, are all the highest in the world; the second is the extraordinary weight, with each aqueduct of 1,200 tons, the heaviest prefabricated aqueduct; the third is the overwhelming difficulty to installing the U-shape structure with the maximum height reaching 9.
6m. Among others, the beam aqueduct on the Dalang River is the largest of its kind in China.
Ren Shengchu, Vice President of CGGC, said that CGGC has constructed in a quality, fast and safe way the key project in the South-to-North water diversion which is the No.1 Caohe aqueduct project in Asia. He also pledged that CGGC will continue its efforts in reasonable management, elaborate organization during the Shahe aqueduct construction, so as to perfectly finish its task with high efficiency.
