The 10th General Assembly of CAE to Be Held Shortly (2010)

The Information Session of the tenth General Assembly of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the fifteenth General Assembly of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was held at 10:00 am on June 6, 2010 in Beijing Conference Center. Academician Wu Hequan, Vice President of CAE, gave a briefing in the session.

In accordance with CAE and CAS regulations and conventions, General Assembly is held in even number year while New Member Election is carried out in odd number year in the Gregorian calendar. Upon negotiation, the tenth General Assembly of CAE and the fifteenth General Assembly of CAS will be held from June 7 to June 11, 2010 in Beijing. It is estimated that around 656 academicians of CAE will attend the tenth General Assembly, together with 12 foreign members.

Placed on the agenda of the assembly are as follows. Speeches are to be delivered by State leaders; President s report is to be presented by academician Xu Kuangdi, President of CAE, on behalf of the previous governing board; new President, Vice President and members of the Governing Board are to be elected; discussion sessions on medium and long-term development strategy of engineering science and technology in China, as well as academician team development are to be organized; academic seminars are to be held by the Academy and all Academic Divisions; working reports are to be given by the directors of standing committees of all Academic Divisions respectively; future work of all Academic Divisions is to be discussed; certificates are to be issued to newly elected Academicians and Foreign Members; and Guanghua Awards on Engineering Science and Technology are to be conferred to reward outstanding achievements etc.
