Zhang Jianfei, deputy to the National People's Congress and mayor of Changsha, was invited to the People Website for interview. Mayor Zhang talked about such hot topics as livelihood and transportation.
Traffic congestion has undoubtedly become one of the most concerned issues in China. Mayor Zhang remarked that the solution to the problem is to get through the bottleneck by considering systematically, in addition to expanding the supply capacity of railway networks. By means of the price leverage, the situation that everyone can own a car will be assured, but its use frequency on the central road of the city should be reduced.
Zhang expressed that the ultimate goal of building Changsha into an international city is to develop a happy homestead and raise people's sense of happiness. He remarked that great efforts should be made to pay attention to the feelings of the people and such issues as children s education, housing, employment that the people concern most.
About livelihood issues, Mayor Zhang pointed out that a series of initiatives measures have been taken in Changsha to benefit people, such as monetary subsidies for affordable housing and free parks. He also talked about improving people s livelihood from the perspective of fine management.
Mayor Zhang noted that great endeavor will be made in cultural development. The Changsha Municipal Museum under construction will display a large number of cultural relics which have never appeared in public.
