Jinan ------ 1,610 green cars to be spread within 2 years

The application spread of green cars is being sped up in Jinan. According to estimation, as many as 1,610 new green cars will be promoted into use through 2012, reporters learning of this from relevant meetings these days.
In 2009, Jinan was chosen as one of the trial model cities for promoting energy saving and green cars, which is a national campaign One Thousand Autos in Ten Cities. By now, 100 mixed energy buses bought in as the first batch have been running for almost 20 months, with the accumulated mileage being over 270 hundred thousand kilometres and the average fuel saving rate being 25% or so. This year the city has signed another auto purchase contract of 100 mixed energy buses, which will be put into use in the near future. As estimated, 1,610 green cars will come into service by 2012 in the fields of public traffic, taxi transportation, official duties, sanitation work, postal service, engineering line, and logistics distribution trade.
