National Student Orienteering Championship 2010 started in Zhongshan

National Student Orienteering Championship 2010 & the 6th National Survey, Mapping and Teaching Staff Orienteering Championship was started in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Middle School and it will last for five days. It is a top-class orienteering sport sponsored by Ministry of Education of the PRC and Sun Yat-sen Memorial Middle School is the first middle school that has hosted the event.
Participants come from 26 provinces and cities including Hong Kong. The number of participants hit the historical record with 2200 athletes from 283 organizations. The championship consists of many groups such as college group, junior middle group, middle school group. And the championship consists of six major events such as short distance, middle distance race, and Team race.

The first day of competition produced a total of 24 gold medals, eight of which was won by Sun Yat-sen Memorial School in eight events it was involved in that day. Sun Yat-sen Memorial School was awarded as Model School for National Student Orienteering because it has rank the first in the gold medal list and the medal list for a succession of three years and won the team champion for a succession of four years.
