Presidents of 80 Asian universities met in Guangzhou to discuss exchange and cooperation

On the 14th, the Asian University Presidents Forum which lasted 2 days, was put to an end. On the 13th, Liu Yandong, the state councilor and Wang Yang, secretary of the Guangdong provincial Party Committee and others were present at the opening ceremony of the forum, which was hosted by Yuan Guiren, Minister of Education.

In his speech, Liu stressed that the exchange and cooperation among higher education in Asia should be promoted, the friendly relationship and cooperation between Asian countries should be strengthened, so that it could play a leading role in the promotion of local economic and social development.

Liu also emphasized that in order to build a harmonious Asia with lasting peace and common prosperity, the cultural and educational exchanges should be extended and a social foundation of friendship from generation to generation should be laid. As an important member of Asia and a large country of higher education, China will further promote the opening up of higher education to the outside world. Learning the internationally advanced ideas of education and experience, she will also try to explore effective ways of sino-foreign education cooperation to do her bit in the improvement of higher education in Asia. More Asian students are welcome to China to further their study.
About 80 presidents from 20 Asian countries attended the forum.
