Taiwan Pingdong Economic and Trade Delegation Came to Shantou to Seek Cooperation

On August 4, Taiwan Pingdong Economic and Trade Delegation came to Shantou to seek for cooperation in respect of agriculture, fishery, science and technology and other aspects between two regions.
Now it happens to be the time China implements the "Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta" to speed up the construction of the economic zone on the west side of the straits, which brings an unique development opportunity for Shantou, a city located at the junction of the Pearl River Delta region and the economic zone on the west side of the straits. The signing of the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) at the end of June also allowed a broader prospect in cooperation between Shantou and Taiwan.
It is reported that, until this June, Shantou has approved 629 registered Taiwan-funded enterprises over the years, with total contract investment of USD 1.638 billion, and the actual utilization amount of Taiwanese capital was USD 1.124 billion, ranking No.2 in terms of the use of foreign investment in Shantou, which has become an important part of export-oriented economy in Shantou.
