Recently, Chinese American Mayor Stephen K. Sham of Alhambra, California, U.S.A., paid a visit to Shantou to express the willing of Alhambra being friendly to Shantou.
Alhambra is the city of the second largest population of Chinese immigrants in 88 cities of Los Angeles County. Stephen K. Sham is a descendant from Chaoshan. He became the first Asian American mayor of Alhambra in 2006 since Alhambra was founded in 1903.
