Shantou's Detailed Control Planning on Construction of Wuqiao Island (Draft) is Released

Recently, Shantou's Detailed Control Planning on Construction of Wuqiao Island (Draft) prepared by Shantou Institute of Urban Planning and Design has been released. This Planning has transferred the function of the industrial land in Wuqiao Island, and gradually changed the inland river production water front of the Island to the living water front. A green belt is built along the water front to control and manage the water environment. Meanwhile, based on the natural watercourse of Meixi River, a commercial and residential integrated island against the water is built to achieve win-win results for ecological environment and social benefits, enabling Wuqiao Island to be the highlight area of the future urban development.
Consisting of the green belts along Meixi River, Wuqiao Island has undertaken an important function for urban greening. The Planning takes the island water body and the central park as the inner and outer cores. All residential lands are planed into an encirclement layout, to form an island residential area "surrounded by river and green" and a space structure integrating both "commerce and residence" through reconstruction and control.
