Dongguan will raise monthly subsidies for low-income residents to ensure a minimum standard of living in the city confronting the recent prices inflations.
Starting from January 1 next year, the monthly subsidies for urban and rural low-income residents in Dongguan will be increased by 40 yuan (6 U.S. dollars) to 440 yuan per person, benefiting more than 30 thousand people around the city.
This increase is the direct result of Dongguan's "minimum standard of living mechanism", which was established in June earlier this year, giving automatic increases to the allowance in line with change to the price index.
According to the civil branches of Dongguan Government, the increase is expected to add a spending of 1.75 million yuan to the government budget next year.
