A group of 12 Dongguan tourists returned from the quake-hit Japan Monday (Mar.14) evening by planes. So far a total of 16 Dongguan travelers have all been back from Japan safe, Dongguan Daily report today.
16 tourists from Dongguan's three travel agencies were traveling around Japan when the quake struck, and none were killed or injured.
According to China Youth Travel Service's Dongguan office, it had one group of 12 tourists seeing cherry-blossoms in Hakone Peace Park on March 11. When the earthquake came, the tourist group was on the way to Osaka which is far from the quake site. Fortunately there was no death or injury among the group.
As the destinations in the schedule were unaffected by the disaster, the team continued the sightseeing as planned and returned to Dongguan from Osaka on March 13 after visiting the rest attractions.
China's tourism authorities on Sunday asked people to be prudent before traveling to Japan and warned Chinese tourists in the country about aftershocks.
The National Tourism Administration (NTA) suggested that tourists avoid visiting Fukushima and Sendai, where quake and tsunami damage is the most severe.
