On June 15th, President Pei Gang was invited to visit Ecole Polytechnique F d rale de Lausanne (EPFL) and met Prof. Vetterli, Vice President of EPFL, as well as professors from College of Life Science, College of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Asia Research Project and International Office of EPFL.
During the meeting, Prof. Vetterli introduced the results of nearly 10 years reform in EPFL, especially the structural changes in teaching force, the source of international students and the establishment of college of life science. President Pei highly commended the reform experience of EPFL and the leap-forward development of College of Life Science.
President Pei also briefed the general idea of international cooperation of Tongji and the reform of excellent engineer education program, which got positive feedback from EPFL. Both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in teaching and research cooperation and to enhance student and staff exchange.
Afterwards, President Pei visited 4 laboratories of faculty of environment, civil engineering, water conservancy and architecture modeling as well as the newly established EPFL Rolex Learning Center.
