On the afternoon of Oct. 14, Professor Rosa, the Vice-President Assistant of Pontificia Universidade Catolica, visited CUC. President Assistant Wu Yanxiong had a talk with Prof. Rosa.
On behalf of President Su Zhiwu, President Assistant Wu Yanxiong welcomed Prof. Rosa, then he touched upon China s media industry development and media education, and introduced CUC and its advantageous disciplines. He said, Brazil and China are two big emerging economies, and we could learn from each other in many areas. Prof. Rosa pointed out that School of Society and Communication, Pontificia Universidade Catolica, is one of the best communication schools in Brazil, with an advantage of the teaching of Portuguese as a foreign language; and Pontificia Universidade Catolica is really honored to cooperate with CUC. The two sides both admitted that the two universities would have promising cooperation in the future; they had had deep discuss ion and primarily reached a cooperation intent in the fields of building up Confucius Institute, Portuguese education , and journalism and communication academic cooperation, etc.
This is the first time that the delegation of Pontificia Universidade Catolica visited CUC. Zhang Lili, Dean of International Exchange and Cooperation Department, CUC; Wu Minsu, Vice-Dean of School of Foreign Studies, CUC; and teachers of Portugese from the School Of Foreign Studies attended the meeting.
Pontificia Universidade Catolica was founded in1941.As one of noted private universities in Brazil, it has 10,400 undergraduates and 7,500 graduates. Pontificia Universidade Catolica ranked first in all the private universities in Brazil, according to the Basic Skills Test for Undergraduates by Brazil s Education Ministry in 2009. There are three schools: School of Social Science, School of Engineering, School of Humanities and Religion, including 29 departments in Pontificia Universidade Catolica. The disciplines of academic distinction of Pontificia Universidade Catolica include law, engineering, computer science, psychology, economics, international relations and communication, etc.
