On the afternoon of June 17th, 2010,Vice President Hu Zhengrong met with Dr. Diane Miller, Vice President and Dean of Studies of Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in America. The two sides discussed about the cooperation on student exchange and the joint degree program. Vice President Hu Zhengrong emphasized, the two universities should strengthen cooperation on education area of music industry and on this basis have the space of cooperation in more other disciplines expanded, so as to promote the teachers and students communication and development between the two universities.
Dean of International School Zhang Lili;Vice Dean of School of Television and Film Art Li Wei;Vice Director of International Communication and Cooperation Department Liang Yan;Professor Zeng Suijin as well as Teacher Tong Xuena of School of Television and Film Art attended the meeting.
According to the former agreement signed by President Su Zhiwu of CUC and President Dr. Sidney A. McPhee of Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), the two universities would respectively send outstanding students to each other to study for one year. As for the joint degree program for students in music specialty, according to the agreement, the two universities were supposed to adopt the cooperating mode 1+2+1 , which means that after the first year s undergraduate study, students in music specialty of CUC go to MTSU to complete the second and third year s studies and then go back to CUC to finish the last year s study.
Professor of School of Television and Film Art Zeng Suijin once visited MTSU on invitation and learnt about the schooling of music specialty in MTSU. At the same time, being entrusted by CUC, Professor Zeng Suijin had a conscientious consultation with the leadership and the responsible official of MTSU on student enrollment, credit transfer, project management, curriculum settings, annual project review and so on. The selection of students is likely to begin at the end of this year.
MTSU is a public university with a long history, located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. It s next to Memphis, the hometown of the famous American musician The Hillbilly Cat Elvis Presley. MTSU is famous for its specialty of music industry which ranks first in America. After earning the required course credits, students can be conferred a bachelor or master degree on music business, audio production or commercial composition.
