From January 23th to 29th in 2011, Vice President Hu Zhengrong led a delegation to visit Spain. They first visited the regional government of Andalusia and three famous Spanish universities: Universidad de Granada, University of Seville and Malaga University. Next the delegation paid a visit to the University of Murcia which has already established partnership with CUC, and visited the students of CUC studying there.
CUC Delegation first visited the regional government of Andalusia. With 8 provinces under its jurisdiction, Andalusia is Spains second largest autonomous region, and its also the major birthplace of Spains culture, where world-famous bullfighting and flamenco dancing originated. Whats more, here is the home of Picasso. On 28th last July, the autonomous region government signed a cooperation agreement with CUC.
During the visit, the two sides did an intensive study and reached broad consensus about the implementation of the agreement and about future cooperation plans. In the coming June, the Spanish Andalusian Culture Research Center will be launched in CUC, which is the first cooperation center domestic university established with the autonomous region of Andalusian. Currently, the first batch of books and audiovisual materials that the Autonomous Region presented to the center have been in place. During the discussion, Maria Del, the Vice Minister of tourism, business and sports of the regional government of Andalusia, said that Andalusian regional government is willing to serve as a bridge, to set up the exchange and cooperation platform between CUC and the eight universities in the region. The main local newspapers prominently covered the CUC delegation visits.

Subsequently, the delegation visited the famous Spanish University: Granada University, University of Seville and Malaga University. The Delegation reached agreement with these universities on the intention of full cooperation, including student exchange, teacher exchange, research exchange and so on. These universities all wanted to join the International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication initiated by CUC and they also invited CUC to take part in the International Campus Project initiated by the Spanish-speaking countries universities-in Spain and in other Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America. They hoped for further cooperation and exchange with CUC.

The delegation also visited Southern Newspaper and the workplace of Southern Television in the region of Andalusia. Southern Newspaper is a renowned local newspaper in Spain, it makes good use of both the traditional newspapers, radios and the new media the Internet to achieve resource sharing, newspaper costs saving, and operational efficiency enhancing. Southern TV Station reporters interviewed Vice President Hu. Then Mr. Hu gave best wishes to this TV station, and hoped that overseas Chinese in Spain are happy and healthy.
During his visit in Spain, Vice-President Hu made a special trip to visit the University of Murcia. Since 2003, the Spanish students of CUC have been studying in this university for the 3 +1 program. 20 Spanish learners of Grade 2008 from CUC were studying there. Mr. Hu visited these students and had lunch with them to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year in advance. He encouraged the students to study hard and live up to the expectations of the country, schools, teachers and parents. Apart from learning hard, they should also have in-depth understanding of European history, culture, philosophy, and religion. At the same time, they should consciously be the spokesmen for Chinese culture and Chinas national image, and also make themselves to be the international communication talent with the global outlook.

The delegation achieved new breakthroughs in international education for CUC. It was not only able to seek cooperation opportunities in Spanish-speaking world, but also achieve the goal of go to the sea in a borrowed boat through the cooperation with Spanish universities. It could lay a good basis for the cooperation between CUC and Colleges and Universities in Spanish-speaking world of Latin America.
Among the delegation were Wu Minsu, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Studies, and Song Hailian, Director of the Spanish-teaching section of the School of Foreign Studies.
