Tsinghua Research Achievements Win 2006 National S&T Awards

Seven research achievements of Tsinghua won 2006 National Science and Technology Awards recently. Tsinghua professors accepted the awards at the National Conference on Science and Technology at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on February 27.

Of the seven awards Tsinghua received, one was the National Science Award second prize; another was the National Scientific and Technological Progress Award first prize; and five were National Scientific and Technological Progress Award second prizes.

Chinese President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao, Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong, and Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee attended the meeting. State Council Member Chen Zhili announced the State Council's decision on the 2006 national science and technology awards.

The prize-winning research achievements include:

Study on Carbon Nanotube Macrostructure , primarily achieved by Professor Wu Dehai and his colleagues

10MW High Temperature Gas-cooled Test Reactor, primarily achieved by Academician Wang Dazhong, Professor Wu Zongxin, and Professor Xu Yuanhui, and their colleagues

River Basin Water Resources Regulation Modeling System and Its Application for the Yellow River, primarily achieved by Professor Wang Guangqian and his his colleagues

Kernel technologies and their industrialization of circulating fluidized bed boiler and its dynamic simulation, primarily achieved by Professor Yue Guangxi and his colleagues

Research and Development of High Quality & Long Length Bi-based High Tc Superconducting wires, primarily achieved by Professor Han Zhenghe and his colleagues

Research on Intelligent Scheduling and Optimization Techniques for Large-scale Complex Production Process and Their Applications, primarily achieved by Professor Liu Min and his colleagues

(Establishment of the methodology on the activity screening and compatibility of compontents among a TCM formula and its practical application), primarily achieved by Professor Luo Guoan and his colleagues

By the end of 2006, Tsinghua had won a total of 336 National Science and Technology Awards, including 35 National Natural Science Awards, 96 National Technological Invention Awards, and 205 National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards.
