Clinical Laboratory of PKU People s Hospital Selected as "Top Ten"

Peking University, Beijing, Mar. 6th, 2009: The list of 2008 Top TenClinical Laboratoriesin China was released recently in Beijing. This selection was originated by National Center for Clinical Laboratory and Science Times under the guidance of Ministry of Health of China. Clinical laboratoryof Peking University (PKU) People s Hospital was selected as one of them.

The other nine are theclinical laboratoriesof Beijing Tongren hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University, the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army (PLAGH) (also known as Hospital 301), Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University, Beijing Hospital, the First People s Hospital of Foshan, Beijing Tiantan Hospital, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and Qinghai Red Cross Hospital.

This selection was hosted by the Clinical Test Standard Specialty Committee of National Health Standard Technology Committee, Clinic Laboratory of Chinese Hospital Association, Chinese Medical Association, Laboratory Physician Subcommittee of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Clinic Applied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Laboratory Medicine Industry Subcommittee of National Health Industry Enterprise Management Association, and Science Times: Science & Health, and assisted by Clinic Laboratory Net (www.clinet.com.cn). The standards of this selection include the size of the laboratory,examination ability, characteristics, scientific researches, laboratory s status in China, and quality system. The activity was reported by nearly twenty authoritative media, such as Health News, China Pharmaceutical News, Medicine Economic News, Health Times and etc.

This selection is an important activity to promote the development of China s laboratory medicine. Its aims are to improve the technology of laboratory medicine continually, advance the competence of laboratory medicine, and raise public awareness of its importance in medical area comprehensively. It is an honor to be selected into 2008 Top Ten Clinical Laboratoriesin China for PKU People s Hospital because it is not only an affirmation of the clinical laboratory s past achievements, but also a recognition of the whole hospital s comprehensive strength.
