Secretary MIN Meets Mitsui Group Guests

Peking University. Beijing. 11^th March, 2009: On the afternoon of 6^th March, MIN Weifang, Secretary of the University Council of PKU, held a meeting with Mitsui Group delegation from Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG) and Mitsui & Co, Ltd, headed by SMFG president Mr. Teisuke Kitayama. The meeting was also attended by Mr. ZHANG Weiying, Dean of Guanghua Management School and President Assistant, Mr. WU Changqi, Vice Dean of Guanghua Management School, and so on.

During the meeting, Secretary MIN introduced the history of PekingUniversity and its important and irreplaceable role in the development of modern China. According to him, PKU has frequently and closely cooperated with Japanese communities, especially in the field of higher education. As to the cooperation with Japanese enterprises, Mr. MIN made special thanks to Japanese enterprises for their support to the PKU Museum of University History. He said that Japan and China were both very influential and had great responsibilities to the peace, stability and development of the Asian-Pacific region and even the whole world, and therefore it s necessary for the two countries to work together. He also emphasized that PKU was an important force to forward the relationship between Japan and China and it would continue to deepen the friendship and understanding between Japanese people and Chinese people.

Mr. Teisuke Kitayama expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome received and his happiness to deliver the speech at PKU and communicate with the students and teachers. He said that against the background of unstable international situation, the two countries should cooperate with each other to make more contribution and the relationship between the two countries should be promoted by strengthening the communication and understanding between the Chinese and Japanese people.

After the meeting, Mr. Mr. Teisuke Kitayama was invited by PKU-Mitsui Innovation Forum to deliver a speech entitled The Change of Global Financial Trend: the Development Direction for Japanese Banks at the GuanghuaManagementSchool.
