August, 20th, the first session of the second Council meeting of China Siyuan Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (hereinafter, CSFPA) was held in Beijing. Mr. Chen Changzhi, Vice Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, Chairman of China Democratic National Construction Association (hereinafter CDNCA), was elected Chairman of the Council. Mr. Liu Hanyuan, Standing committee member of the CPPCC, Board Chairman of Tongwei Group, was elected Vice Chairman of the Council.
Mr. Chen pointed out, social services are the important practices of the CDNCA. The establishment of the CSFPA provides a platform for helping the needed and promoting the economic development of poverty-stricken areas.
In 2007, China Siyuan Program Sunshine Project launched by China Democratic National Construction Association was initiated. This program aims to send high-quality, high-efficiency and eco-friendly household electricity to underdeveloped regions, especially densely inhabited areas of ethnic minorities. For this goal, Tongwei budgets an annual fund of 5 million RMB for 10 consecutive years for scientific solar energy research and new products R &D.
