Hisense Debuts Thinnest LED TV

With the rapid development of flat panel TVs in the world, the display technology keeps on upgrading so that LED TV with background light control is been regarded as an epoch-making product with a promising future. Displaybank forecasted that by 2010, LED TV would account for more than 10% of sales in the large-size market of the world. The market demand would come to 20,000,000 during the next 5 years, therefore, LED TV is said to be the new drive upgrading flat panel line.
On July 9, Hisense s leading Chinese flat panel TV producer unveiled the world s thinnest 42 inch LED (light-emitting diode) TV. The 55mm thick TLM42T08GP, which has been put into mass production, uses auto background light control to improve display quality, reduces electricity consumption by 30% and achieves a minimum output power of 50 watts, in which case, the service life is able to reach 100,000 hours, that is, if you use 10 hours a day, it can be used for more than 20 years.
It is known that currently in the world there are only 5 enterprises applying large-size LED background light control Molds to products. Hisense as the only Chinese company is amongst the five. This is the first time that domestic corporations stand in the same line with the international giant on researching and developing the key technology of flat panel TV.
LED program is one of China's 863 key projects. Hisense has owned related core technologies such as adaptive dynamic backlight control, image quality improvement, and LED backlight unit.
Market watchers say the cost of background light control technology in large-size LED TVs contributes to 40% of the total cost; Hisense s possession of core background light control technology gives Chinese brands more control of the category than they had in the cathode ray tube age when they owned no proprietary technology. Hisense said it will launch China s largest LED assembly line in the second half the year.
By 2010, flat panel TVs will account for more than 80% of China's TV market by sale, stated Chen Haoming, a professor at Tsinghua University and a LED LCD TV expert. Meanwhile, LED LCD TVs will play a main role in the market.
