Yuetan Secondary School and Beijing Japanese School have cohosted the 23rd International Speech Contest in Beijing. Students participated in the contest were required to use the language of the counterparts to make their speech.
The two parts both sent six students as participates to give speeches. The topics of their speeches varied, ranging from environmental protection, Sino-Japanese friendship to goals of life. The students languages were so fluent that if one just listened to the language without looking at the students, he won t even tell which country the students are from. After the speech contest, students also exchanged their ideas on literature, art, calligraphy and painting of the two countries.
The Sino-Japanese International Speech Contest is held on the first Saturday of every December. Yuetan Secondary School, as the only full-time Japanese school in Beijng, hosts the contest every two years. The contest is an effective way to enhance students Japanese language ability, and has become a platform for students from China and Japan to build their friendships.
