On September 15, 2009, Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE) held an opening ceremony for French students. Highlighting the ceremony was Mr. Cheng Yunchuan, the vice director of the Peoples` Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries from the Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Provincial Government, and Mr. Zhang Shaohong , the director of international cooperation and exchange office of Yunnan Education Department.
Vice director Mr. Cheng Yunchuan emphasized that the student exchange program played an important role in promoting Sino-French students exchanges. He also noted that the students in the program would benefit from the characteristics of this type of program and become future bridges for Sino-French culture exchanges and trade. Vice president Prof. Wang Libin briefly introduced the past, present, and future of YUFE. He also put forward three expectations for the French students: First, abide by Chinese laws and regulations; second, adapt to the new environment quickly and enjoy life here; third, make a great effort to learn about the Chinese economy and culture.
Before the end of the ceremony, the teacher representative expressed their ardent expectations for the French students and Student representative Fatima also extended sincere thanks to YUFE.
Since 2007, throughout this program YUFE has sent 53 Chinese students to France and hosted over 65 students from such countries as France, Morocco, Slovakia, Switzerland.
