on China Carbon Sequestration Forestry and Low-carbon Economical Development
The Summit Forum on China Carbon Sequestration Forestry and Low-carbon Economical Development co-sponsored by State Forestry Bureau and Zhejiang Provincial People s Government and co-hosted by ZAFU, the Forestry Department of Zhejiang and Linan Municipal People s Government was held at Linan Wonderland Hotel on oct.27th. The forum was themed by Better Forest and Ecology, Better Life , discussing prominent issues such as trading mechanisms of carbon sequestration, forest s mitigating the greenhouse effect, theoretical and practical construction of low-carbon city, etc.
Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Bai Lichen, Deputy Director of the State Forestry Bureau Zhu Lieke, Deputy Secretary of Zhejiang Province Xia Baolong, Member of the Standing Committee of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Party Secretary Huang Kunming, Vice President of Zhejiang Provincial CPPCC Huang Xuming together with over 200 experts and scholars on low-carbon research attended the forum. Professor Zhou Guomo, President of ZAFU, was also invited to and interviewed by journalists from the Xinhua News Agency.
The forum was presided by Ge Huijun, Member of the Standing Committee of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Vice Governor and declared open by Bai Lichen. Zhu Lieke, Xia Baolong, Huang Kunming and Shao Yi, Secretary of Linan Municipal Party Committee, addressed respectively.
On the forum, Director of Forestation of State Forestry Bureau Wang Zhuxiong read relevant documents, and formally granted ZAFU the certificate of qualifications of forestry carbon sequestration measuring and monitoring . Zhou Guomo, on behalf of ZAFU, received the certificate and awarded 10 Linan farmers for Certificate of Forestry Carbon Sequestration issued by China Green Carbon Sequestration Fund with other leaders. Mayors from 21 national modern forestry model cities signed their names on the wall of Linan Declaration.
There were 4 theme reports arranged on the forum, Develop Carbon Sequestration Forestry to Meet the Low-carbon Era by Governor of Linan Wang Hong, The Biologically Low-carbon Age by former Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Academician Shen Guofang, Ecologically Low-carbon Building and Ecological City Constructing by Professor Mao Qizhei from Tsinghua University and New Biological Energy Technology by Vice President of the Canadian Imperial Bank Mr. Roberts.
40 representatives of teachers and international students from ZAFU took part in this forum and the exchanges.
