ZSTU adds two characteristic major constructions

Recently, State Education Ministry and Finance Ministry issued Notice on the Approval of the 4^th Batch of Characteristic Major Construction of Colleges , which publicized the list of 671 characteristic major constructions of colleges including electronic information engineering and fashion design & engineering in ZSTU. So far, there are 6 characteristic major constructions of colleges on national level.

The work of characteristic major constructions is carried out according to the requirement of Suggestion on the Improvement of Undergraduate Teaching Quality and Reform of Teaching by State Education Ministry and Finance Ministry . It aims to reform the way of talent training, strengthen practical teaching, optimize curriculum system, reinforce the construction of teachers and teaching materials, advance specialty building related with the development of the country and regional economy and set an example to specialties concerned in colleges of the same type and the specialty construction and reform.

Both electronic information engineering and fashion design & engineering are traditional prevailing faculties of ZSTU and initial key specialties in Zhejiang province. Focusing on the electronic information technology in modern textile and clothing industry, electronic information engineering has yielded a series of results on scientific and teaching research, especially the application of computer vision and computer detecting techniques in the field of textile and clothing, which enjoys a high reputation at home and possesses an obvious feature and advantage in Zhejiang province.

Fashion design & engineering is one of the earliest founded clothing related majors in China and is the only key clothing discipline of A category in Zhejiang. It has cultivated a multitude of talents for the clothing industry of Zhejiang. 70% of key members such as designers, technical directors and general managers of Hangzhou suit-dress enterprises are graduated from ZSTU. Up till now, 10 graduates from ZSTU have been awarded the title of China Top Ten Fashion Designer by China Fashion Association. Every year, there are students in ZSTU winning New Artist Award by China Fashion Association and they have accounted for 20% of all the students getting the award. Thereby, ZSTU has won Educator Award the highest award issued by national fashion education for 9 years at stretch and maintained top three in major ranking at home. School of Fashion Design & Engineering was judged to be China s Famous College of Fashion by China Fashion Association in 1998 and became the first-class college of fashion in China.
