CZU Committee of CPC holds an All-member Conference(44442)

Changzhou University Committee of the Communist Party of China held an all-member conference (enlarged session) on November 8^th and 9^th, 2010. Besides school leaders and members of CZU Committee of CPC, leaders from all the faculties and relevant departments attended the meeting. The conference conveyed the major points of the Fifth Plenum of the 17th Central Committee of the CPC and the Conference on Education Work in Jiangsu Province, and had a close reading of the Essentials of the Mid-and-long-term Plan of Education Reform and Development in Jiangsu Province. Through keynote speeches and group discussions, the participants focused their attention on the making of the Twelfth Five-year-plan of CZU and the development strategy of CZU.

On the morning of November 8^th, Pu Yuzhong, the President of CZU, made a keynote speech on the blueprint of CZU s further development. The vice presidents of CZU also addressed the development of CZU from various perspectives, namely, the enhanceing of the academic disciplines, the improvement of teachers, the strengthening of teaching, the promotion of academic research, the vitalization of student affairs, and the enriching of school culture, etc. the head of the planning office also reported the major index of the Eleventh s Five-year Plan. Thereafter, the participants of the conference discussed earnestly and heatedly on the above issues in three groups of discipline development, strategic development and culture enrichment.

On the morning of November 9th, the deans of some faculties made their keynote speeches, and Shi Guodong, the Party Secretary of CZU concluded the conference with a speech on the future development of CZU.

In his speech, Pu Yuzhong, the President, expounded the major points of CZU s development plan, focusing on the guiding principles, the strategy of development, and the primary goals of the Twelfth Five-year Plan. Powered by reform and innovation, CZU will stick to the development of academic disciplines, the cultivation of students and the enrichment of school culture. Accordingly, CZU will moderately enlarge the admission of undergraduates, promote postgraduate education, emphasize the education of overseas students, and maintain the development of adult education. CZU will spare no efforts in order to reach its goal of a leading university in education and research.

In the concluding speech, Shi Guodong, the Party Secretary, addressed the opportunities and obstacles to the development of CZU. He recalled the 32-year history of CZU, commented on the development of CZU s disciplines, teaching and teachers, and academic research during the Eleventh Five-year Plan period, and drew people s attention to the gap between CZU and universities of similar level. Shi also studied the hardware, the current development and status of CZU after its renaming, and stressed that the making of the strategic plan determines to a large extent, the speed and the direction of CZU s development. He finally called upon all participants of the conference to map out a wise plan of CZU s future development.
