Zhao Zhengyong Holds Panel Discussions with Leaders of Universities

On Oct. 26 Zhao Zhengyong, acting governor of Shaanxi province, together with Vice Governor Zhu Jingzhi, held panel discussions with the leaders of Xi'an Jiaotong University, NPU and Northwest University of Agriculture and Forestry to study how to support university development and how universities will better serve the province's development. During the discussions, NPU Chairman of Board of Trustees Chen Xiaozhu and President Jiang Chengyu present NPU's development achievements under the 985 Project.
Zhao Zhengyong fully approves the three universities' significant contributions to Shaanxi's economic and social development. He points out that Shaanxi is invigorating itself by science and education, whose key is university. The three universities play a major role in Shaanxi's higher education and represent its development level, thus being the pride of Shaanxi people. He hopes that the universities will aim at building the world-renowned universities continue to boost the 985 Project, improve educational quality and development level and play a leading, demonstrative and driving role in Shaanxi's higher education development. The universities shall strive to enhance discipline building-up, student education and scientific research, producing outstanding talents, specialists and educators. In the areas of discipline building-up and scientific findings transformation, the universities shall play the pillar role in the province's economic and social development. Shaanxi will provide more support to the higher education development and create favorable environment and conditions for the rapid development of universities.
