Vice President Aled Jones from Aberystwyth University visits NPU

Vice President Wang Runxiao met with the visiting Professor Aled Jones, vice president of Aberystwyth University, the U.K. on Dec. 6, 2010. Present at the meeting are Tang Hong, director of Office for International Cooperation, Sun Yu, its deputy director, and Fan Xiaoya, vice dean of School of Computer Science and Engineering.

Wang Runxiao extends his warm welcome to Vice President Aled Jones. He point outs that AberystwythUniversity is one of renowned research universities in the U.K. and that NPU is willing to establish cooperative relations and hopes to cooperate in the areas of the CSC postgraduate program, exchange students, faculty exchange visits and research. He hopes that Professor Aled Jones's visit will help him understand NPU better and boost the multi-level and comprehensive cooperation with School of Computer Science and Engineering and School of Software Engineering at NPU.

Professor Aled Jonessays that the purpose of his special trip to NPU is to carry out the substantial cooperation and exchange with NPU and emphasizes that NPU as one of the 985 universities will be taken as one of its key partner universities in the world.

After the meeting the two vice presidents sign the framework agreement on the cooperation between the two universities and the cooperation agreement on combining the Bachelor's degree study for three years and a half with the Master's degree study for one year and a half. Under the agreements, the students from School of Computer Science and Engineering and School of Software Engineering shall earn NPU's Bachelor's degree and the British Master's degree within five years.
