Embracing elegant arts, enjoying ballet performance

From May 11 to May 15, the activity of "Elegant arts into campus -- Ballet in love with the campus" was held in South and North campuses successively. Vice President ZHANG Zhengang addressed the activity and presented gifts to Guangzhou Ballet Troupe on behalf of SCUT.

The event consisted of a series of ballet performances combined with lectures on ballet knowledge given by ZHANG Dandan, head of the troupe. Zhang talked about the appreciation, origin, development history, and the current status of ballet in our country. According to Ms. Zhang's interpretation, the troupe performed classic and modern ballet dances including the selected act of Bakhtar, Giselle pas de deux, Under the Same Moon, Moonless Night etc.

After the show, students said that the activity was a great opportunity to cultivate and improve their art appreciation ability. Meanwhile, the outstanding artists also set a good example for them. It is known that SCUT has held 41 activities of the sort involving over 60,000 students.

It was the anniversary of Wenchuan big earthquake on the occasion of the performance. Students actively contributed money and 8,000 yuan have been collected. Later the money would be sent to the disaster area with the best wishes from SCUT students.
