Nanjing University (NJU) celebrated the 90th anniversary of its chemical research and education at the Great Hall on May 29.
NJU President Prof. Chen Jun, Vice Chancellor Prof. Ren Lijian, Vice President Prof. Pan Yi attended the celebration together with leaders of China`s key chemical research institutes, alumni and alumnae of NJU`s School of Chemistry and Chemical Research and representatives of NJU faculty and students.
President Chen Jun in his speech reviewed the history of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Research and its achievements in disciplinary construction, social services and student education. He expressed the hope that the School of Chemistry and Chemical Research will take the lead in building world-class disciplines.
"Wherever I work, Nanjing University is always my home. I feel very proud to be a graduate of NJU`s School of Chemistry and Chemical Research," Mr. Zhou Jianmin, President of the Nanjing Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and an alumnus of Nanjing University, said at the celebration.
Academician Prof. Chen Yi, Academician Prof. You Xiaozeng, Academician Prof. Chen Hongyuan and Vice President Prof. Pan Yi also presented the Excellence Awards of Chemical Experiment to seven NJU students.
