On the morning of November 13 Prof. Dr. Johannes Georg Bednorz, Winner of the 1987 Nobel Prize in Physics, visited Nanjing University and gave a lecture entitled "High Tc Superconductivity - a Discovery and its Impact."
Dr. Bednorz in his lecture shared with NJU students his gains and findings in superconductivity research.
He also visited the Celebrity Garden on Xianlin Campus and planted a magnolia tree there.
In 1987, Dr. Bednorz and his supervisor Prof. Dr. Alex M ller were jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics "for their important break-through in the discovery of superconductivity in ceramic materials." He is now an IBM Fellow at the IBM Zurich Research Laboratory.
