On December 16 Prof. He Chengzhou of the School of Foreign Studies, Nanjing University, was elected president of the International Ibsen Committee in Tromso, Norway. Prof. He is the first Asian scholar ever elected president of the Committee.
The purpose of the Committee is to promote the International Ibsen Conference around the world. In 2012, the 13th International Ibsen Conference will be held in Tromso.
Prof. He Chengzhou got his Ph.D. in literature at the University of Oslo, Norway. He is now Professor of English and Drama at the School of Foreign Studies, and also Director of the Chinese-Nordic Cultural Centre, and Deputy Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences, Nanjing University.
