From November 9th to 10th, 2010, a delegation from American Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) led by Ms. Barbara Byrd Keenan, executive vice president of IFT, paid a visit to Jiangnan University (JU). Professor Chen Jian, President of JU, warmly welcomed our guests and briefly introduced our efforts and achievements on scientific research and talents education of food science. Moreover they exchanged views concerning the forms and content of future cooperation. During their visit, Ms. Barbara Byrd Keenan and her colleagues visited School of Food Science and its national key lab, where they held a detailed discussion with relevant leaders regarding the international certification of food science curriculum, academic exchange and so forth. Ms. Barbara Byrd Keenan gave high praise to the solid and strong scientific research strength and our teaching faculty. As well, she expressed a strong desire to further enhance the cooperation between us. Also included in their itinerary is a visit to achievements exhibition of the 50th Anniversary of School of Design, JU and show room of design work. The cooperative spirits and competence of our staff and students as well as the creative and remarkable design works made such great impression on Ms. Barbara Byrd Keenan that she expressed gracious intention to promote WUCHI (Wuxi--Chicago) cooperation. It s named after WUZU cooperation, which turned out to be a resounding success between Wuxi and Zurich.
