Pakistan’s Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association received the visit of Mr. Nail Ersoy, Commercial Attache of the Consulate General of Turkey in Karachi.
The meeting was held at PRGMEA’s central office in Karachi on 24th March, hosted by Central Chairman Mr. Bilal Mulla and Zonal Chairman Mr. Shehzad Salim, and attended by prominent members of the Association including Mr. Rashid Soorty of Soorty Enterprises Pvt Ltd.
During the meeting various matters were discussed between Mr. Nail Ersoy and the individual members for promotion of trade between Turkey and Pakistan.
While Mr. Nail Ersoy acknowledged a growing scope in Turkish imports of Garments he observed that over recent years Turkish imports of Garments from India and Bangladesh have grown at a much faster pace than imports from Pakistan.
Also, the general difficulties faced by Pakistani companies exporting to Turkey were pointed out by some of the participants and were thoroughly discussed, including the language barrier and some of the Turkish Customs laws and regulations which place the exporter in a deprived position in case of dispute. Mr. Ersoy paid careful attention to the issues and assured full cooperation by the Consulate General.
Mr Bilal Mulla was confident that this first interaction and exchange of information would lead to fruitful results; particularly it would facilitate better communication and understanding between PRGMEA and the ClothingAssociations in Turkey, and shall bring an opportunity for Pakistani exporters for better promotion of their products and for matchmaking with Turkish buyers.
