The strong frost that has been affecting eastern United States threatens the transportation of tomatoes and other horticultural products that are held at Nogales` border. So it was indicated by nationwide Sistema Producto Tomate president, Manuel Antonio zares Castro, who said that a 50% of the product is held at the border, this situation will promote an excess of supply when the products goes on the move and consequently a possible fall of prices.
At this moment prices are stable, but the markets, not only for the tomato, are contracted. He said that last week they only worked two days and this current week seems to be the same.
