China Launches First Network Security Police Station

China's first 24-hour network security police station was launched in Shenzhen, a city in south China's Guangdong Province, to deal with increasing cyber crimes, according to China National Radio report on Thursday.

The newly established network security police station will be exclusively in charge of tracing clues of cyber crimes and will directly take part in investigations.

A special team was formed with members selected from criminal police, cyber police and general police stations. It mainly focuses on internet monitoring and providing technical supports for investigating related cases.

The network security police station receives citizens' case reports 24 hours every day. Citizens can directly report a case to the police online through a video call via its online space opened for promoting anti-fraud information.

With an increasing popularization of the Internet and a high crime rate in the cyber-world, public security departments across China have strengthened crackdowns on criminals illegally utilizing net resources since last year.
