Fashion center gets OK

The Beijing municipal government signed an agreement with China Hi-tech Group Corporation on Wednesday to construct a national creative fashion center in Songzhuang, Tongzhou district, the Beijing Times reported Thursday.

Over 30 billion yuan ($4.56 billion) will be invested in the new center, which is expected to cover 14.6 square kilometers and generate 15,000 new jobs, according to the report.

Over 1,000 spaces will be built to attract internationally recognized companies in a bid to promote Beijing as the "sixth world fashion center."
