Sponsored by the Centre of International Cultural Exchange of the Ministry of Culture, an exhibition of Si Tiao Ping is currently on view at Hall 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 of the National Art Museum of China until January, 9, 2011. The exhibition is another annual exhibition organized by the ministry following an exhibition of hand scrolls at the National Art Museum of China in March 2009.
The exhibition is expected to explore effective combination between the traditional Chinese painting and the contemporary Chinese painting. The hand scroll, the screen, the fan and the volume are all the traditional modes of the traditional Chinese painting. The sponsor is planning to hold a theme exhibition every year and promoting practice between the traditional forms and the contemporary creation in order to reflect profound humane value and artistic value of the Chinese painting.
With a total of 128 artworks by famous contemporary Chinese painters on display, the exhibition is hoped to explore the identity of the traditional Chinese art in the new artistic era of multiple patterns, provoke Chinese painters creativity and new ideas and also broaden the developmental space of the traditional Chinese painting in the contemporary time.
