SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Co. held a ceremony of signing a twinning contract for developing Class A vehicles of self-owned brand in Pukou of Nanjing on May 6. The signing ceremony was entitled Make Innovations through Integration and Move Ahead Hand in Hand ---- Work with Courage and Determination for the Pukou Phase II Project of SAIC.

The event indicated that the SAIC-Nanjing Cooperation as One Family had entered a substantive stage. Hu Maoyuan, Board Chairman and Secretary of CPC Party Committee of SAIC, attended the ceremony and made a speech. Chen Zhixin, Executive Vice President of SAIC Motor and General Manager of SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Co., gave a presentation of the project and raised general requirements for it.

Wang Haoliang, Board Chairman of Juejin Group, Jiang Yingshi, Chairman of SAIC Board of supervisors, Xue Jian, Deputy Secretary of CPC Party Committee of SAIC, Wu Shizhong, Chairman of SAIC Labor Union, etc. attended the ceremony.

The first model of Class A vehicle based on an all-new platform and equipped with an all-new engine that is synchronically developed will be put into serial production at SAIC s Pukou production site in Nanjing on February 28, 2010. The project will be planned by the technical team of SAIC, and implemented by New Nanjing Auto.

Characterized by great difficulty, tight schedule and heavy tasks , the project sets a higher requirement for the communication and linkage between Shanghai and Nanjing. To realize the objective of the company that the project should be braced without fail , the Party Committee of the company decides to energetically push on with the integration and cooperation of the two partners, take as a platform the theme activities of regarding quality as life and centering everything on users , and work for an early settlement of the key technical hard nuts via cooperation between the teams of Shanghai and Nanjing that are twinned according to their respective fields of operation.

Hu Maoyuan expressed his appreciation for the twinning approach adopted by SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Co. in the effort to tackle key technical issues through cooperation between the Shanghai and Nanjing teams. He said that the full efforts to push forward the Roewe Class A vehicle project not only represented the focus where we should step up the building of self-owned brand, but also marked the turning point towards a further cooperation between SAIC and Nanjing Auto.

He called on the project teams from both partners to stress good quality and enhance brand image with regard to the products, to seize the opportunity and strengthen marketing with regard to the market share, and to follow the schedule and heighten the sense of responsibility with regard to the projects.

He hope that, in adopting the twinning approach both sides should work in close cooperation for effective implementation without fail, brace the project by keeping to the schedule without fail, and twin the corresponding functions for synergy without fail.

Chen Zhixin emphasized that the AP11 & NSE project was the first all-new strategic model in the real sense since the SAIC-Nanjing Cooperation was realized, which represented a strategic planning for SAIC to enter the Class A segment, where the market potential was the greatest and the growth was the fastest, and where the hope lay for New Nanjing Auto to turn losses into profits and make a thorough turnaround.

Wang Xiaoqiu, Deputy General Manager of SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Co., and Huang Keji, General Manager of Nanjing Auto, made their commitment to complete the project and turn out cars with high quality and in the required volume as scheduled on behalf of the Shanghai and Nanjing teams respectively.
