The Report Meeting on the Fourth National Cultural Relics Protection Project was convened on December 9 in Changsha, the capital city of Hunan Province. Shan Jixiang, director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH), Tong Mingkang, deputy director of the SACH, Lu Jianping, director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Guo Kailang, vice governor of Hunan Province, attended the meeting.

In his welcome speech, Mr. Lu introduced the cultural relics protection work of Hunan in recent years. He expected the SACH to give greater support to the province's work in this field, and welcomed help and guidance from other provinces.

According to Mr. Shan, great achievements have been made in this project since 2009. As there are an increasing number of cultural heritage items, we should make good planning to incorporate major projects into the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" of the governments at each level, highlighted Shan.

He also stressed that Importance should be attached to making an in-depth study on cultural relics protection project in a scientific manner, and speeding up the construction of high-quality professional team.

At the report meeting, officials in charge of eight institutions at the provincial or municipal level delivered speeches. They also conducted group discussions about the preliminary study on this project, project data collection, and selection of excellent projects in cultural relics protection, and reached consensus and put forward suggestions on the work.
